New business:

Goals for the year: Tonight the PIE group in attendance approved on getting a merry go round for the playground the cost about $2500-$3000.  PIE group felt this was a much needed item since 9 children were hurt last year on the merry go round and 4 already hurt this year.  The current merry go round is just not safe.  Mrs. Helgeson also demonstrated the Project Lead the Way science curriculum.  PIE members were very impressed and would like to contribute to purchasing this program to be used and hope to be able to get kits/supplies for all classrooms K to 5th.  Mrs. Helgeson will get back to us for pricing which she estimated was around $8,000 and would be about $2000 yearly to get replacement kits.   We decided at this time to not help fund iPad, air conditioners, or cameras.

Security cameras: technology group requested PIE help fund cameras for in the gym area.  The cost was approximately $4500.  After much discussion it was decided that PIE was not interested in funding these cameras.

Book Fair:  Scholastic dollars needed to be spent by October 3rd is $1139.38.  Discussed getting rug and seats for in the library area with this money.  Total scholastic dollars carried over from last year is $4432.11.  Next book fair will be from October 24th to 28th.

Sign on fence:  Byron has book to order these signs should cost around $115 to $250.  PIE would like to purchase sign to put on fence by Highway 55 that would have paw prints and KES.  Gina is going to get pricing for this and proceed as this is something that was approved to do last year.

Meeting adjourned at about 8:00pm
