P.I.E. Meeting Minutes

Monday, March 14th, 2016 6:30 p.m.

In Attendance: Barb W, Ann T, Gina G, Carrie L, Andrea W, Keri J., Moya W

Secretary Report: The minutes from February  reviewed
Treasury Report: The treasury report looked over.  No concerns noted.
Principal Report:  Keri stated that conferences were a success with over 97% of parents in attendance.  It is confirmed that 6th grade will be moving to the high school next year.  So far it is looking like about 73 Kindergarteners are enrolled for next year.  Food drive ran by student government was a success with 1870 food items collected for the area food shelf.  Pennies for patients also brought in $945.26 to kids in need.  MCA testing will be from April 4th to May 6th.  Discussed the hydration station will go in by the gym.  $500 will be provided by health and safety committee and total cost would be around $1200. 
Old Business:
Volunteer for Papa Murphy:  Barb will send out email to teachers to add this need of a volunteer to their newsletters and maybe someone will come forward.
Book Fair:  The BOGO book fair will be set up May 3rd and take down May 10th.  No preview day.  May 4th would be all day for classes to come in to buy.  Some scholastic dollars ($434) will expire by July so Carrie will purchase items to use that amount up.  Decided to do a couple of book baskets for the spring raffle.  Will do a book fair game (to be determined) for the BOGO fair.  Next year book fair dates set as follows: Oct 17th to 26th (Grandparents day will be planned during this time), Feb 1-8th, and May 3-10.  Carrie will email these dates to Kathy to get into the calendar.
Hydration Station: Was discussed above in the principle report.  PIE has agreed to pay for remaining amount of $700 towards hydration station.  And Keri will look into cost of filters and this will be put into the budget for next year so PIE can help maintain the fountain in good working order.
Used Book Fair:  Lots of books donated and Andrea’s class busy collecting and organizing.  All set for the book sale.  Barb will contact Sue for plan for the extra books.
Camp S’more: was a success and donation was well appreciated.
MCA breakfast: PIE priced out breakfast items for testing date.  Bananas, cuties (oranges), chocolate milk, juice boxes, cheese sticks, and granola bars at Sams Club.  Seems for 3 to 4 days this would cost around $900 or so.  So this would be a doable option within our budget.  Keri felt it was a good idea.  Then the classrooms would collect food items in the morning for their class when it is their test day.  Keri will look into getting PIE the exact test dates and the total number of kids.  She will also discuss allergy issues with the nurse to finalize items we should purchase.  The group decided no cuties (oranges) since they would be too messy.
Spring Raffle:  We cut, stapled tickets, and packaged tickets for each classroom.  Some brought completed baskets tonight.  Took pictures to hopefully get onto website.
