Kimball Area High School Technology for Student Use
Kimball Area High School (KAHS) has a installed a new Cisco wireless network as of 2014. Guests who come in the building are now able to access WiFi.
The Social Studies department has 60 Chromebooks that were purchased in 2013-2014. A Chromebook is a laptop that operates only Google products including Google Drive, Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and more. Students are able to do research without going to a computer lab, which is a more efficient use of class time.
The FACS departments purchased 20 Chromebooks in 2014-2015 school year.
The Economics students use the Chromebooks to participate in the online Stock Market while 9th grade students research career options and prepare for their job shadowing experience.
KAHS computer labs that students have access to:Business lab has 32 HP Compaq desktop computers with Windows 7 that were purchased in June 2011.
PLTW lab has 17 HP Compaqdesktop computers with Windows 7 that were purchased in July 2011.
Science lab has 10 used HP computers with windows XP that were donated.
Lab 149 has 32 Macintosh computers purchased in July 2008
Lab 148 has 32 Macintosh computers purchased in June 2006
Smartboards, projectors and document cameras are in most of the classrooms.
iPads (10) were purchased for the Special Education department.
Mobi pads were purchased in the 2014-15 school year and are used in the math and science departments.
