Kimball Area Vex IQ Robotics elementary teams performed well at the 2024 State Championships on March 2 at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center. All five of Kimball’s IQ elementary teams qualified for the State event. Team 55353B The Super Blue Boys finished seventh overall and snagged the Sportsmanship Award while Team 55353D K.O.F. DROP took 10th overall in the skills division.

“The day was fast-paced and exciting,” said head coach Mike Kunkel. “A huge thank you to our Kimball assistant/parent coaches for making this 2023-24 season a big success. Another big shoutout needs to go out to all of the Kimball volunteers at the State Tournament. The three-day event is only possible because of volunteers and I felt that no matter which way you looked, you saw friends and family members from Kimball Robotics helping all three days.”
The IQ students had a few ups and downs at the State competition; however, all five robots were able to compete and the Kimball teams gained a lot of experience working with other schools.
“Our elementary teams did an awesome job at State and we are so very proud of them,” added Coach Kunkel.
