Kimball Area High School proudly hosted the January monthly meeting of the Central Minnesota Manufacturing Assn. Approx 60 people in attendance heard from King Banaian, Economics Professor at St. Cloud State University with an economic outlook affecting the manufacturing industry.
Principal Nancy Bonnifield gave those in attendance an overview of Kimball's Career and Technical Education programs which include Business, FACS, Ag Ed, and Tech Ed (woods and metals). Highlights also included a newly formed Design Den which is a makerspace for student use, the first-in-the-state Law Enforcement class taught by a School Resource Officer, and a summary of industry partnerships.
The Design Den features several opportunities for students to create items for both academic projects and for personal use. Students have access to a sublimation printer with the goal of printing team shirts in-house, a Cricut for vinyl printing, an embroidery machine, five 3D printers, a green screen room for video/audio editing, 3D pens and more.
Fifteen students led small groups of participants on a tour throughout the school to highlight student opportunities and their personal experience of how CTE programs at KAHS helped them with their career aspirations.
Thank you to the members of CMMA for participating in this event at KAHS. We loved having you!
